Head Shots Vol. 2
Head Shots Vol. 2 is a set of the toy heads made by Play With This Too. They are designed in several color sets, and when placed on toy bodies form different fictional characters.
Lost Protectors
Head Shots Vol. 2 includes three heads designed by Ken Christiansen. They are shaped like a space helmet, a robot and an alien.
In their exclusive colors the heads are the characters Blackjack, Moon-Unit and Xando. In the retail colors they are the characters Hammerendous, Protector Zero and Who is Ch'ddar-O?.
According to Play With This Too the exclusive recolor of Moon Unit would look good on Flarestrike, while Blackjack would look good on Wrecktifier.
Development
The Head Shots Vol. 2 were designed and named by Ken Christiansen.
The crowd funding exclusive colors of Head Shots Vol. 2 were revealed online in November 2014. The retail colors were revealed during the Lost Protectors Kickstarter.
Head Shots Vol. 2 were among the stretch goals for the unsuccessful Lost Protectors Kickstarter campaign. They were to be unlocked if the campaign raised at least $135,000.[1]
Reception
Rik Alvarez was interviewed on the TFYLP podcast on October 10th, 2014. They talked about Astroblast, Desolataur and Head Shots Vol. 1 and 2. The hosts thought Skull-FCKR looked like Predator and that Xando looked like a hammer head shark.[2]
The Cybercast podcast for October 11th, 2013 discussed Desolataur, Head Shots Vol. 2 and the TFcon Chicago 2014 teaser in the news. They thought that the teaser looked like Grimlock's sword.[3]
The Retro Robot Radio show for October 11th, 2014 discussed Boneyard's weapons and Head Shots Vol. 2 in the news.[4]
The Retro Robot Radio show for October 25th, 2014 interviewed Rik Alvarez. The show discussed Play With This Too team members Mark Wong, Steve Redinger, Trent Troop, Ken Christiansen, Aaron Archer and Simon Furman. It also talked about the toys for Ancient Astronaut, Astroblast, Bloodbath, Boneyard, Desolataur, Jetwash and Steel Cock as well as the first three volumes of Head Shots.[5]
The Shattered Cast Uncut podcast for October 30th, 2014 discussed Ancient Astronaut, Astroblast, Bloodbath, Boneyard, Desolataur, Jetwash and Head Shots Vol. 1 through 3 in the news. The hosts liked the Pretender homages, but did not understand the Head Shots. They said some of the designs reminded them of characters from Inhumanoids, Men in Black and Ren and Stimpy.[6]
The WTF@TFW podcast for November 1st, 2014 discussed the Ancient Astronaut, Bloodbath, Boneyard, Desolataur, Flarestrike, Jetwash and Head Shots Vol. 1 through 3 in the news. They said Xando looks like a G.I. Joe alien and talked about Aaron Archer and Simon Furman joining Play With This Too.[7]
The Retro Robot Radio show for November 15th, 2014 discussed renders for D-Mon, cape art for Desolataur, and crowd funding exclusive colors of Head Shots Vol. 1 and 2 in the news.[8]
The Good Morning, Cybertron! podcast for November 17th, 2014 discussed the reveal of Bitemark with D-Kay and the crowd funding exclusive Head Shots Vol. 2 in the news.[9]
