Dr. Crank is a fictional character and third-party Transformer homage to the Transformers Constructicon Hook made by TFC Toys in 2011.

TFC Toys

Dr. Crank is a third-party Transformer and an homage to the Constructicon Hook. He combines with the other toys in his line to form Hercules, an homage to Devastator. He was the fourth member of the set released.[1]

Dr. Crank in exceptionally intelligent and skilled, as very strong. He has below average speed and firepower. He is the second highest ranking Hercules team member.

Dr. Crank is not the only third-party Transformer homage to Hook, there is also Maketoys Mobile Crane.

Development

Project: Deva's first prototypes of Exgraver and Dr. Crank were displayed in December 2010.[2]

Dr. Crank was previewed at the Third Party Panel at TFcon 2011.[3]

Reprolabels released a label set that makes Dr. Crank look more like Generation 1 Hook.

The WTF@TFW podcast for December 30th, 2010 selected pictures of the Dr. Crank prototype as one of the New Picture Picks.[4]

  • TFC Toys Hercules Dr. Crank (2011)
An original third-party Transformer mold. Changes from robot to crane. Becomes the upper of torso of Hercules.
Comes with two guns, Hercules head, instructions and a collector card.
This toy was recolored and included as part of TFC Toys's Perseus.
  • Reprolabels Classic Hook (2012)
A set of labels that makes Dr. Crank look more like Generation 1 Hook.[9]
  • TFC Toys Hercules Dr. Crank reissue (2012)
A reissue of Dr. Crank was done in 2012, with an altered box.
