Bill Goodwyn (born 1960) is an American media, education and ed-tech executive.

Early life and education

Goodwyn was born in Rocky Mount, N.C.[1] Goodwyn graduated from Tarboro High School in 1978 and proceeded to graduate from the University of North Carolina.[1] Goodwyn graduated in 1982 with a bachelor's degree in journalism and communication.[2][3]

Career

Goodwyn began his career in 1983 at Scripps Howard Company, where he helped in the development of TV Watch.[4]

He then joined Landover, MD based Discovery Communications in 1987 as a distribution executive, relocating from Atlanta, Ga. to Washington, D.C.[2]

Goodwyn served as both President of Global Content Distribution and also CEO of Discovery Education.[5][6][7][8]

He helped in the development of digital textbooks to replace hard-copy textbooks in classrooms.[7][9][10]

Affiliations

Goodwyn serves on the UNC Chapel Hill Chancellors Philanthropic Council[2]; the T. Howard Foundation[11]; the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy (CECP) CEO Members, and the CTAM Educational Foundation.[9]
