Shawn Rana is a corporate executive and currently the board advisor for Greenfield Nitrogen Fertilizer Facility.[1][2][3][4]

Career

Rana attended University of Manitoba and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. His professional career started when he was recruited right out of university by one of the largest fertilizer producers in Canada.[1]

Throughout his 26 year career, Rana has worked in a variety of industries, including fertilizers, oil and gas, and agrichemicals. He’s held numerous roles, ranging from plant manager and engineering/projects manager, all the way up to President and CEO of several different companies.[1]

Rana has held executive positions at Agrium, Iowa Fertilizer Company, Fortigen LLC,  Austin Powder Company, and has been responsible for founding and leading multi-billion-dollar companies from the ground up.[5]

Career highlights

  • He piloted construction of the first world-scale, greenfield nitrogen fertilizer facility built in US in more than 25 years—recognized as one of the most innovative and efficient manufacturing plants in the nation.
  • Developed IFC policies, EHS, HR manuals, SOPs, and benefit plans. Recruited top-performing Directors (Operations, EHS, HR, Maintenance, IT) and empowered to hire teams that met goals and thrived within culture.
  • Led on time delivery of IFC plant that drove dramatic sales and EBIDTA in year one. Oversaw EPC firm and project teams working on $1.2B contract to construct plant that was safe, efficient, and reliable.
  • Installed SAP and state-of-art technology to support operations across 300 acres with 6 buildings producing almost 2 million metric tons of fertilizer per year. Set up supply chain including truck and rail loading.
  • Opened door to China and sourced clients and contacts. Identified company to acquire for packaging/blending operations and performed financial due diligence for $50M purchase to help future proof APC in market.
