Oqab al-Otaibi
Oqab Al-Otaibi is an individual Saudi Arabia placed on a list of most wanted suspected terrorists.[1][2][1][2] The Saudi government had offered a large reward for information that helped with his apprehension. He was suspected in playing a role in the bombing of the Special Emergency Forces’ Mosque in Asir; in the shooting of worshippers at the Al-Mustafa Mosque in Al-Dalwa; participating in terror activities of the Darmaa cell; and murdering Brigadier Katab Majed Katab Al-Hamadi Al-Otaibi.
Al-Otaibi was arrested in early May 2016.[1] Two confederates, Abdulaziz Ahmed Mohammed Al-Bakri Al-Shihri and Yasser Yousef Ali Al-Houdi, were killed during the firefight where he as captured. According to Arab News Al-Otaibi was wearing a suicide belt, like his confederates, but his nerve failed him, and he fled, rather than kill himself, only to be captured a day later.[3] [3][4]
Arab News reported that a raid security officials conducted on May 6, 2016, was related to Al-Otaibi's capture and interrogation.[6][6]
A January 10, 2017, Al Arabiya reported al-Otaibi had recently been killed.[7][7] The report said he met with a new Daesh recruit, Tayea Salem Yaslam al-Sayari, in 2014, and that al-Sayari, formerly an engineering student, became his cell's bomb-maker. Al-Otaibi education only went as far as intermediate school.
