Kenny Ray Morrison

Kenny Ray Morrison

Kenny Ray Morrison was a Midshipman in the United States Naval Academy, and a member of its football team, who was convicted of sexually assaulting another Midshipman.[1][2]

Charges that Morrison had used GHB, a date rape drug, on another Midshipman were dropped due to technical problems with the forensic evidence.[3][4][5]

Morrison was discharged from the Navy, and received a two year sentence.[6] According to the Washington Post Morrison, in an unsworn statement, apologized to his family, and to the Navy, but not to his victims. He maintains he is innocent and plans to appeal his sentence.

Stewart Mandel, writing in Sports Illustrated, used Robinson's selection to confirm the assertion that “Critics lament that the school has taken its obsession with athletics too far, tacitly accepting the blights of big-time football that come with success.”[7]
