Evac (Transformers)

Evac is the name of two fictional characters from the Transformers series. The first Evac was introduced in 2005 and was one of the main characters in the animated series Transformers: Cybertron, where he was voiced by Ty Olsson. A second Evac was introduced as a tie-in character for the 2007 Transformers film. Both are Autobot helicopters.

In Galaxy Force, Live Convoy is one of the five Convoys introduced in the series. Each Convoy is the leader of a particular planet in the series, and Live Convoy is the leader of the Transformers of Earth.

Evac is proficient in a form of Cybertronian martial arts. He also uses his rotor blades as a form of staff weapon. He only uses his winch and missiles in vehicle mode. His missile launchers also double as turbo jets.

Fictional biography

Evac loves flying on Earth almost as much as he loved soaring over the epic skylines of Cybertron. He's been in hiding on Earth since guardianship of the Planet Key was passed on to him millions of years ago. He feels a keen affection for the people of Earth, whose history he has observed from its very beginnings. It frustrates him that the Transformers must keep their presence on Earth a secret, because he recognizes the potential value of the humans as allies. Courageous, determined and gentle, Evac avoids fighting when he can, but if forced into combat, he can be a very tough opponent. He is dedicated to the protection of other life in all its forms.

Animated series

Evac, like Crosswise, Thunderblast, and Lugnutz, is the descendent of the original Cybertronians who embarked on the fateful Space Bridge project. After they were stranded on Earth, they expanded and evolved, populating the earth all throughout humanity's evolution and development. Through history, the Decepticons that were captured and had been stored in their ancestral ship had escaped and were terrorizing humanity, giving birth to many of Earth's historical mythologies, but Evac and Crosswise worked to capture and cage these beasts until the late 1990s. Crosswise would be lured into the frozen seas of Northern Canada by Thunderblast, while Evac would retire from most of his duties, while sometimes coming forward to aid humanity in secret when necessary. It was this time that Evac rescued a young Colonel Franklin from a raging Colorado river, which sparked Franklin into joining the FBI to gain access to classified information related to the Energon program from 10 years prior.

Evac would eventually be contacted by Crosswise, escaping Sideways, who was in pursuit of the Earth key. Evac would fend off the advances of Starscream and Sideways for a short amount of time, before joining the Autobots and encountering the adult Franklin, who would finally get to thank his rescuer. Evac traveled to Gigantion (Gigalonia) with the other Autobots, but Crosswise remained behind to guard Earth and aid humanity during the chaos on Earth brought on by the advancing black hole.

In the final episode of Transformers: Cybertron Optimus Prime (Galaxy Convoy) proposed a new Space Bridge project using the power of the four Cyber Planet Keys and the four great Cybertronian ships. Many Autobots and former Decepticons joined in the project. Evac lead the Hyperborea (Pangea) and Jungle Planet (Animatros) Cyber Planet Key with Backstop and Lugnutz. Crosswise then became the official protector of Earth in Evac's place.

Toys

• Galaxy Force Live Convoy

A new mold. This toy was recolored as Universe Springer, Universe Blades and Timelines Galvatron.

Like most toys sold in the Galaxy Force toy line by Takara, then later in the Cybertron toy line by Hasbro, there are small paint differences between the two versions of the toy. The Hasbro version has a code number on the back of his Cyber Key, while the Takara version has no number on his Force Chip.

The fusilage length of the actual helicopter Evac is based on is 11.64 meters long, where the larger Evac toys has a fusilage 26 centimeters long, giving it a scale of about 1:44. Using this information would indicate Evac would stand about 23 feet tall in robot mode. The mold for this figure was also used for the BotCon 2011 exclusive Timelines: Shattered Glass Galvatron.

• Cybertron Voyager Evac (2005)

The Voyager sized toy was initially sold by itself, and later sold at Target stores with the Mini-Cons Razorclaw and Steamhammer attached as a promotion.

• Cybertron Legends Evac

The Micro class version of the toy is only 10.5 centimeters long, giving it a scale of about 1:110. The Micro class Evac toy was recolored as Classic Legends Whirl and Universe Legends Blades.

Evac is one of the many Autobots who responded to Optimus Prime's call at the end of the film to come to Earth. He is a rival of Blackout and a rescue specialist who helps Earth recover from Decepticon attack, Evac is never seen in the film.

Fictional biography

When Evac received the transmission from Optimus Prime, inviting the surviving Autobots to Earth, he knew he was needed there immediately. The final battle against Megatron could only have resulted in massive damage to the world, which meant that his skills would be critical. As a rescue specialist, Evac has spent his life traveling from one disaster zone to the next, protecting and saving those he could. He is totally fearless, willing to risk anything to help his fellow sentient creatures.

IDW Publishing

Evac appeared among the Cybertronians standing with Optimus when Megatron was preparing to launch a counter-attack against an alien fleet in Transformers: Defiance #2.

Titan Magazines

Note: Information in italics occure in the alternate storyline where Megatron won the battle for the Allspark.

Evac appeared in issue #17 of the Titan Transformers Magazine, in a story called "Return to Cybertron: Part 1." In this story he helped out on Earth after the damage caused by the Decepticons.

Evac would return in issue #22 of the Titan Transformers Magazine series in a story called "The Decepticon who Haunted Himself."

Toys

• 3D Battle Card Game Evac (2007)

Evac is among the characters which appeared in the 1st wave of Transformers 3D Battle Card Game by Wizards of the Coast. He is a redeco of movie Blackout.

• Transformers Voyager Evac (2008)

A remold of Voyager Blackout done as an Autobot. Transforms into an MH-53 Pave Low Helicopter. Instead of Scorponok, he comes with a raft that turns into a gun. This toy was later redecoed into Revenge of the Fallen Whirl.

This toy's fuselage is 25 centimeters long, while an actual Pave Low helicopter is 2235 centimeters long. This gives it a scale of about 1:89. With a robot toy height of 19 centimeters, Evac should stand about 55 feet tall.

• Revenge of the Fallen Deluxe Evac (2010)

A recolor of Blaze Master. His orange and white colors and plae blue face suggests a homage to the Protectobot Blades from Generation 1. Evac also has a C-72 on his helicopter mode, which is similar to Blades' number from the original Japanese Generation 1 release.

• Transformers Cyberverse Legion Evac

This toy is to be made available with waves of Transformers: Prime Cyberverse figures.
