Fictional biography

Armada biography: The three vehicles in the Street Speed Mini-Con Team all have one thing in common: the ability to work with precision at record-breaking speeds. Their turbo-charged escape capabilities make them key elements in Autobot reconnaissance missions, and they gladly race to the front line in battles against the Decepticon forces!

Cybertron biography: The talent of the members of the Street Speed Mini-Con Team for working in tandem while racing at top speed across a battlefield or crowded city freeway has made them invaluable as spies and scouts for the Autobots. All three are in love with racing, and they sometimes disappear for weeks to compete in the Speed Planet rally circuit.

Animated series

Backtrack and Oval first appeared in Transformers: Armada episode #17, "Conspiracy" in the possession of the Decepticons.[1]

Comics

Dreamwave Productions

Backtrack appeared in issue #9 of the Transformers: Armada comic, appearing among the Mini-Cons living on Earth's moon. In issue #11 the Mini-Con base on the moon was attacked by the Decepticons. Backtrack and other Mini-Cons escaped in a rocket to Earth. In issue #12 the rocket crashed in Alaska. In issue #14 the Mini-Cons were recovered, reactivated and brought to the Autobot base. In issue #18 Backtrack was among the Mini-Cons who helped Over-Run use the Mini-Con Matrix to defeat Unicron.

Backtrack had a biography printed in the Dreamwave Production series Transformers: Armada - More Than Meets The Eye.

Transformers: Mosaic

Backtrack appeared in the Transformers: Mosaic story "The Thrill of Victory" by Master Fwifflo.[2]

Toys

A new mold.
  • Cybertron Street Speed Mini-Con Team (2005)
A slight remold and recolor of Armada Street Speed team, with Backtrack and Oval swapping molds.

Transformers

Backtrack is a (mostly) unreleased Target exclusive toy from the 2007 Transformers movie line.

Toys

  • Hasbro Transformers Scout Backtrack (unreleased)
A recolor Cybertron Lugnutz. This toy was intended to be released as a Target exclusive, but never made it to the store. Some samples have appeared online for sale.
The color and license number MR-35 clearly indicate this toy is an homage to the GoBots Night Ranger and it was later repurposed into Night Ranger.

Transformers: Robots in Disguise

In Robots in Disguise Backtrack is a Mini-Con partnered with Ransack.
