Abdullah Shahab

Abdullah Shahab is a citizen of Afghanistan whom American intelligence analysts believed has ties to terrorism.[1][2][3] Shahab is a nephew of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, the founder of Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin. The United States classifies Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin as a terrorist organization.

The Pajhwak Afghan News reports that the International Committee of the Red Cross has delivered a letter from Shahab saying that he is being held at the Bagram Theater internment facility.[1] Shahab disappeared in the fall of 2005.

Pakistan newspaper The News International reported in January 2009 that his father Shahabuddin had been recently released after six months in Pakistani custody.[2] The paper reported that his brother, Salahuddin, had recently been released from Afghan custody, after three years of detention. They reported, however, that Abdullah Shahab remained in US custody in Bagram.
